Dr. Julie Dunn
Director of Education, Physical Therapist
PT, DPT, CMT
(she/her)
Dr. Julie believes in honoring each step of a patient’s journey, taking a team approach to wellness, and empowering patients to better care for themselves and meet their highest goals.
She views each patient as a whole person, while helping guide them through challenges and questions, building their support team, and getting them back to the activities they hold dear. Drawing on her experiences and ongoing trainings, she makes sure the pelvis isn’t the only structure considered in pelvic floor dysfunction. Deeply inspired by her mom, Dr. Julie endeavors to leave the world a better place than she found it and strives for this to be evident in her patient care.
Her physical therapy journey has been driven by Dr. Julie’s eclectic mix of passions, including music, performing arts, languages, travel, health, and education. Her schooling took her all around the country and gave her the opportunities to work with patients of diverse abilities and backgrounds. While earning her doctorate, her team’s research about supporting community well-being earned national awards and international reception.
Dr. Julie attended Boise State University for her undergraduate studies and Idaho State University for her doctorate. She has been practicing since 2016 and has worked with a variety of cases in pelvic health and orthopedics. She was a pelvic health physical therapist in the Saint Alphonsus OB/GYN clinic and a physical therapist for Ballet Idaho. She has also served on national and state physical therapy boards. Dr. Julie currently enjoys a role as professor in the Idaho State University Doctor of Physical Therapy program, teaching the next generation of PTs about pelvic health.
She continues to be an avid learner. Dr. Julie received advanced certification in hands-on therapy for orthopedic concerns, and she quickly advanced through the certification courses for pelvic health and obstetric physical therapy care (prenatal and postpartum). Her training includes NAIOMT, Herman & Wallace, Institute of Physical Art, APTA Section on Women’s/Pelvic Health, Barral Institute, Alcove Education, Great Lakes Seminars, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), and Fascial Distortion Model (FDM).
Dr. Julie is a Treasure Valley native who has learned to love the outdoor activities the Boise area offers. Aside from spending time with family, she has enjoyed a variety of hobbies over the years: vocal performance, dance, triathlons, horsemanship, yoga, gardening, hiking, swimming, baking, and playing a few instruments at very amateur levels. She has a wise husband who supports her unrealistic reading goals and book storage needs and a sweet dog who accompanies her just about everywhere. One of her most cherished roles in life so far is “auntie.”
